TEAMING AGREEMENT

We are very proud to announce that Kolona Painting and General Contracting, Inc. and Bendco, Inc. has created a Teaming Agreement under the 8(a) Program and received our first contract under this teaming relationship!

 

MANAGEMENT

Blake Kolona

Our team, led by Blake Kolona, President and Owner,  personally reviews and involves himeself in every project making sure the projects are completed according to plan and specifications and also meets his own high expectations.  Blake has worked his way up from the field as a past union painter to eventually achieving his contractor’s license at the young age of 23.  Through hard work and vision Blake developed Kolona Painting and General Construction, Inc. (KolonaPGC) and has made it his mission to give quality service to each and every customer he serves.  He has consistently kept his staff and field employees trained and certified so that they can perform at optimum level.

 

Carol Kolona

Carol Kolona - Vice President and CFO, also involves herself personally in every project; from the estimating, contract administration, project cost controls, and overall management.  Carol has over 15 years experience in the construction industry and her mission is to commit to the Lord that “whatever we do our plans will succeed”, Proverbs 16:3. and to facilitate that mission to our Clients and our Company “Family” that through the deliverance of our client’s projects -- On Time, On Spec, and On Budget –while providing honesty, excellence, quality, and  integrity.

Director of Operations

Michael Danforth possesses more than 31 years of government construction and contracting experience.  His experience encompasses environmental management, heavy highway, underground utility, bridge and building construction projects of varied types and complexity that includes landfills, hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, industrial plants and design/build military family housing revitalization projects.  Mr. Danforthʻs responsibilities here at Kolona Painting & General Construction, Inc. include general directorship of policy and direction, Program Management and Contract Management.  He is also the primary point of contact for Partnering, Conflict Resolution, and Contract Negotiating.  

 

ADMINISTRATION
 

Kelli K. Nakamoto, Office Manager -  Born and raised in Hawaii, Kelli is responsible for the Accounting and Human Resource Departments within our company.  She has been with Kolona Painting and General Construction Inc., in the early growing years and has recently returned to our team as the Office Manager in 2009.

 

Kinley has over 20 years of General Contracting experience.  His knowledge includes time spent developing his skills in the field as a Superintendent and the office as a Project Manager.  He has been part of numerous Residential, Commercial, State and Federal projects.  He has assisted many of these projects with conceptual estimating and value engineering, insuring projects are completed on time and on budget.

 

Dwayne possesses a Bachelor’s of Science in Building Construction Technology and a degree in Architectural Drafting from Norfolk State University. Dwayne has been involved with all phase of construction since a teenager and holds 5 years of Estimating and Project Management experience. Born and raised in Virginia, Dwayne excelled in sports and wanting to grow in the construction industry at a young age and continues to contribute great assets for himself and the company.

 

 

Sasha Cruz, is the youngest of our team, she is Assistant to the Estimating Department. She joined Kolona Painting & General Construction, Inc. five years ago.  A local resident of West Oahu, she contributes her clerical skills throughout the Administration office from Accounting, Human Resources, and now in Estimating.  She is an asset to our team. 

Nikki Saunders

Administrative Assistant & Marketing

Nikki Saunders is the Administrative Assistant to Blake Kolona and Marketing Department for Kolona Painting & General Construction, Inc.  She was born and raised on the west coast of Oahu and joined our team in January 2011.  Nikki brings 5 years experience in Administration and Marketing.

 

Erica Blankenship

Administrative Accounting

Erica Blankenship, graduated with BA in Management Information Systems from Marshall University in 1999.  Worked for Verizon Business at IT Tech before changing directions and concentrating more on business management and accounting.  Relocated to Hawaii in 2009.  Erica joined Kolona Painting and General Construction, Inc. in January 2011 where she assists the Human Resources and Accounting Department.

KPI requires all of our field personnel to be proficient in excel and word software for their daily reports, emails, creating work schedules, and material data safety sheets.  This multi-level, multi-tasking management style allows us to work on many different phases of projects at the same time.  This tiered method gives our clients the best results possible.

SAFETY

KolonaPGC considers Safety a top concern and our company is insured and carries C-33, C-55, C-42g, C-42 Roofing, C-21 Flooring, and C-31D licenses.  All key employees have received Quality Control certification as well as Construction/Health and Safety Technician certifications.  All field employees have completed the required OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses, CPR certification, Spray certification, Hydro-Stop Certified, and Equipment certification.

In “good standing” with both state and federal governments, KolonaPGC is prepared to meet all federal and state safety requirements and provide intensive Accident Prevention plans, Hazmat plans, and Quality Control plans for every project.

Our Story
Kolona Painting and General Construction, Inc. originally started “as two brothers with a dream” (reference Building Industry Article dated September 1997).  The two brothers, Blake and Scott Kolona, decided to stretch their client base by creating two separate companies. S. Kolona Painting, Inc.’s (Scott) focuses more on Custom Residential  and  light Commercial projects.  While Kolona Painting and General Construction, Inc. (Blake) continues to focus on larger projects with the Government/SBA 8(a) and in the Commercial arena.
